About the Journal
FOCUS AND SCOPE
The Pentecost Journal of Theology and Mission (PJTM) is a scholarly journal focused on theology, mission and other related disciplines. It serves as a platform for researchers, theologians, and practitioners to share their findings and insights. Released biannually, the journal is available in both online and printed formats, thereby enhancing accessibility for a broader audience. Its content encompasses scholarly articles, research papers, book reviews, and critical essays, all published in English. Thematic areas covered by the journal include: Theology, Mission studies, Biblical Studies, Religious studies, Sociology of Religion, Anthropology of Religion, and Philosophy.
OPEN ACCESS POLICY
This journal is a fully open access scholarly publication. All content is freely available without charge to the user or their institution. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This policy is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of open access.
LICENSING
All articles published in this journal are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits unrestricted use, distribution, adaptation, and reproduction in any medium, provided that the original work is properly cited. Authors retain copyright of their work, and proper attribution must be given when the work is reused or adapted. Authors may also deposit copies of their articles in institutional or subject repositories, personal websites, or other platforms, in accordance with the journal’s self-archiving policy.
SELF-ARCHIVING POLICY
- Purpose
PJTM supports the free dissemination of African theological and related scholarship. This policy outlines how authors may archive their work to enhance accessibility and impact.
- Permitted Versions
Authors may archive:
- Preprint (submitted version before peer review)
- Postprint (accepted version after peer review)
- Published Version (final version as it appears in PJTM)
- Archiving Locations
Authors may deposit their work in:
- Institutional repositories
- Personal websites or blogs
- Academic platforms (e.g., Academia.edu, ResearchGate)
- Theological or mission-focused repositories
- Conditions
- Archived versions must include a full citation and a link to the PJTM publication page.
- No embargo period applies.
- Authors must not modify the published version or misrepresent its status.
- Licensing
Articles are published under Creative Commons licenses and must comply with the terms of the license when archived.
COPYRIGHT NOTICE
Upon acceptance, the article must not be published elsewhere in the same form, whether in English or any other language, including electronically, without prior written consent from the copyright-holder. To ensure adherence to this policy, the article may be subjected to checks using Crossref Similarity Check and other originality or duplicate checking software. Subscribers are allowed to reproduce tables of contents or lists of articles, along with abstracts, for internal circulation within their institutions. However, permission from the PJTM is necessary for resale or distribution outside the institution, as well as for all other derivative works, such as compilations and translations. If the article contains excerpts from other copyrighted works, written permission must be obtained from the copyright owners, and proper credit should be given to the original sources.
